Living in new cities? Sometime it is not easy
For many years I lived in just 1 city. In fact, it was the same one where I was born, where I made first colleagues, went to first school, in which I met my first partner et cetera. This small city in which I grew up was for me the whole universe. At that time I probably couldn’t imagine any other place. To be honest, I didn’t even think that they exist. Apparently, I was watching them in television and so forth. Unfortunately, they seemed to be so unreal that they were quite abstract, therefore didn’t even seem to me like to be actual places.

I never really went for holiday so didn’t visit any place different than my small town. I am aware that it may sound a little ridiculous but It was almost 15 years ago, therefore I believe that it was pretty standard situation at that times in our country. Especially for kids like me – children born not in a big city, as well as in rather poor family. After plenty of years of living in the same place, I eventually had my first chance to see a word.
And you can not believe me, but once I started, I simply couldn’t stop. I was travelling for last twenty years. I have visited each the continents and almost 30 countries overall. Some of these places I visited only as a typical tourist, but in some of them I was really living for a moment. Certainly, this way of life has many advantages. I did meet tons of new people, know different cultures, become familiar with many different cities and their history etc.. Most of my colleagues keep on saying how jealous they are about this. But frequently I have this thought that very often they don’t remember that moving to new places has also many disadvantages.
Nowadays, it is not that bad. When you move to new town, you might easily find very detailed info about almost anything you need, for example, where to hire a car in chicago or where to print in nyc. But only imagine to find this kind of things few years ago, when internet was not that popular yet. I can recall that sometime this was even hard for me to find out where I can find cheap but decent dinner. I really think, that the hardest part of moving into new places is to become familiar with new place, surrounding etc.. However, I still like it the most at the same time.
